Description
A SMALL COLLECTION OF USED INSTRUCTIONS FOR LOCOMOTIVE REPAIR, SCHEMATIC AND BLUEPRINT. THE SCHEMATICS ARE COPIES. IT IS NOT A HAND SIGNED ORIGINAL. THESE PAPERS WERE CARRIED AROUND BY A RAILROAD WORKER WHO REPAIRED LOCOMOTIVES IN THE 1950'S AND 1960'S. THE BLUEPRINT IS DATED 1948, AS ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS.EACH OF THE FOUR ITEMS BEAR THE OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE OF THE SAME RAILROAD WORKER, AS WELL AS WHAT I ASSUME TO BE HIS EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION.
1- BLUE PRINT SCHEMATIC- ELECTRO MOTIVE DIVISION- GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION: WIRING DIAGRAM AUTOMATIC TRANSITION. May1948. This is the blue paper shown in (PHOTO 1-4). It measures 26 inches tall by 44 inches wide. It has corner creasingand age related paper toning as well as edge nicks and has one very dirty rear panel. The paper has been refolded from original folding and heavily soiled panel no longer faces outwards. The dirty panel has name of worker. (While nothing in this schematic specifically states it is an F3, everything included in this auction was found together, all have the same worker name and all reflect the automatic transition of an ELECTRO MOTOR DIVISION locomotive OF THE GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION)
THE NEXT THREE ITEMS ARE ALL "DITTOS", COPIES OF AN ORIGINAL, WITH A RED STAMP ON THE FRONT PAGE. EACH HAS THE TITLE "AUTOMATIC TRANSITION F-3 LOCOMOTIVES. All also have a small sheet of paper that appear to identify different models of some part of the F3. (Ditto machines were an early type of photocopy machine.)
2- AUTOMATIC TRANSITION SETTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR D-17 TO 21 AND D-22 UP WITH NEW STYLE CLAPPER TIME DELAY RELAY
3- AUTOMATIC TRANSITION SETTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR D-17 TO D-21 WITH OLD STYLE TIME DELAY RELAY
4- AUTOMATIC TRANSITION SETTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR D-16 ONLY.
While the three 6-page documents above have some variation, they are very similar overall with #2 and #4 above being nearly identical
