Description
From my personal collection and for your consideration is an Extremely rare inkwell by S. Fine's Black Ink. Not only is this an extremely rare cylinder inkwell in any color, it is even rarer because of its' sea blue green color. I have only had the privilege of owning one other example in 49years of digging/collecting. (and that was also very rare in the color of olive-green) -This rare privy dug beauty has a tinge of blue-green similar to deep sea water. It measures approximately 3 1/8" in height and is one of the top 'hottest' rare ink bottles known even in any of the more commonly seen colors of black glass or olive green. And even those are super rare!
This free 'hand-blown in mold' cylinder 'desk' ink bottle displays wonderfully crude whittle marks in a nice even pattern and features a hand tooled, rolled lip which is problem free, and with no chips, cracks, or flea bites and the color is absolutely stunning!
The open pontil scar is very neat and well done and near perfectly centered on the bottom. It is near impossible to find this Ink complete in any color/condition let alone in this color variant!
It is handmade circa 1825 -1840 and is a perfect investment bottle for its' color rarity. Absolutely one of the finest examples EVER seen of this bottle and a great candidate that deserves its' own lighted display cabinet!
