Description
Mitchell's Models and Easy Lessons in Locomotive Running comprised a series of lessons of the International Correspondence Schools of Scranton, PA in how to run a Steam Locomotive for a railroad, dating from 1901. This offering includes lesson manuals 1 through 6, the original box, the handheld hand break training aid and stand alone G-6 Engineer's brake and equalizing discharge valve Plate A with instructions on reverse. Each of the 6 lessons covers a different part of the engine. The pages are on heavy stock, and measure 10" x 12". Some of the lessons have fold-out pages and movable parts. The lesson sets contain many colored pages and cut away sections so that you can see through to the next layer, the way it would actually look in 3-D. The engineering of this set is really remarkable as a teaching aid.The pages have grommets, and are held together with string. They have both black and white and color plates of engineering diagrams - fully labeled. They include copious descriptions. This rare train literature set is in wonderful shape other than the box cover is damaged on the two short ends. This set is worthy of any serious collector.
