  • Condition: The instruction booklets are used and show varying signs of wear. However, the fold-out diagrams on vellum paper (which were originally stapled together) are in excellent condition, with no rips or tears. There are two diagrams that were folded and tucked inside one of the books that show a lot of wear. There are a total of 12 diagrams. Ten of them being the fold-out vellum diagrams. Also, the owners' name - T.E. Cashman written in two books. Questions? Just ask! Books range from 1930s-40s. See description and photos for more info!

    A lot of three Pennsylvania railroad engineer instruction booklets including 12 fold out diagrams
    The Pennsylvania Brake and Train Air Signal Instructions
    (Superseding
    No 99 - B - 1
    dated May 22, 1928) Philadelphia, PA August, 14. 1944
    This book includes 9 fold out diagrams on vellum paper in excellent shape.  Originally stapled together, and remain stapled. One remains attached to the book. The other 8 are stapled together (with 2 original staples).  Please see photos. The diagrams ranged in length and width. All crease are fine, no holes rips or tears.

    (the little blue book-it has gold font on the front, and is not easy to see)
    "This supplement has been prepared to include all changes made by the Association of American Railroads requirements for the maintenance of brake and train air signal equipment on freight and passenger cars.  Adopted as standard 1925; revised1933 and 1934, and to cover the Westinghouse air brake compant's new "AB"
    freight brake equipment and No. 8-ET locomotive brake equipment.

    Instruction pamphlet No. 50384-4 Sup 1 June 1943 as adopted by the Association of American Railroads. Westinghouse Air Brake Company.  Wilmerding, PA. There are two folded diagrams tucked in this book.  Do they belong there? I have no idea! They are both well used, or referred too! You can see grease, dir, oil-from working in the famous 'shops' in Atoona, PA.
    The books belonged to T.E. Cashman a friend of my grandfathers, who both worked for the PRR in Altoona, PA.
